What is identification?

  •     The animal identification initially emerged as a need to justify the ownership thereof . Companion animals have been identified in different ways and for different reasons :

    • Sanitary Control . By : health cards ( review and plate ) .
    •
    • Census . By : badges, medals.
    •
    • Genealogical Control. Pedigrees. Inclusion in books breeds.
    •
    • By Tattoos, nasogramas ...
    •

In this context , there is a new concept of animal identification , in which the important thing is that each animal is individually identified reliably and permanently. For this to happen we need two basic requirements:

    • identification method
    •
    • Database
    •

The smooth operation and coordination between them, ensure proper identification. For a pet can be identified in a definitive way , the requirements to be met by the identification method used are:

    • Application easily, quickly and indelibly
    •
    • Inviolable , reliable , standardized and durable
    •

Currently , there is only one method that satisfies the conditions : the "microchip " subcutaneous .

         What is a "microchip " :
The microchip is an inert element and its implementation is completely harmless . The implantation is performed using a sterile applicator , and being painless, requiring sedation of the animal. The transponder comprises electronic elements which contain information in the form of alphanumeric code . These elements are coated with a biocompatible glass capsule that ensures their safety . The information stored in the microchip is accessed by a reader. The distribution of readers is extensive as now , not only keep readers wide structure regional governments where the identification is mandatory , but all veterinary clinics that perform identifications.

be labeled my dog ??or cat ? :
If , in Andalusia is mandatory since the publication of the Law 11/2003 , of November 24 , on the Protection of Animals , which in its Article 17.1 says: "Dogs and cats must be individually identified by standardized electronic identification system , veterinarian implanted within a maximum period of three months from birth. "

However, both the rules of potentially dangerous dogs , as many Andalusian towns ordinances and established this mandatory identification method as before.

How and where you put the "microchip "? Does it hurt ? :
The implantation is performed using a sterile applicator , and being painless, requiring sedation of the animal. Is conducted under the animal's skin , particularly in the left neck .

What is an Animal Identification Registration :
The animals identified codes integrate the various registers ( databases ) . To ensure the effectiveness of the identification is necessary to gather data bases , as identification methods , basic conditions to ensure correct operation . The database should be:

    • Single , centralized
    •
    • Quick , simple and permanent.
    •
    • Inviolable
    •
    • Continuity Guaranteed
    •
    • Control over Data
    •
    • Vocation Service
    •

In Andalusia the database that enrolls pets is the RAIA (Registro Andaluz Animal Identification ) , owned by the Andalusian Council of Colleges of Veterinary , where the owner can check the details of your pet's microchip number entering and your ID

What if I lost, and I give my pet dies :
Being a permanent identification in case of loss , transfer or death of your pet , you must notify the registry. The easiest way is to contact a Vet Center , which will provide the documentation to the change of ownership , address or downward in the registry. In case of loss , you can also contact the vet , phone call or e- mail the RAIA Register or notify the local police or civil guard .
